Mr. Pie is home!

And there were some Pie household members who were extremely happy to see him!
Maddie is taking her safety spot under Mr. Pie's legs and Peanut is clamoring for some attention...
and gets it!
And gets it some more! She even let Kobe get in for 1 kiss.

I got my kisses at the airport ;)

Cuties of 2009, Part 2

Yesterday I had the pleasure of lunching with BabySasa. Oh and his momma was there too :)
He is such a good baby and so cute to boot. I got to hold him almost the whole time!
BabySasa loooooves his Momma. But he loves me too :)But wait, he also loves the camera!

Ok, I love the camera too!

At night, MommaPie and I headed to Kaju Tofu House for dinner. It had been months since I've been there and it was delicious!

Hot boiling clam and oyster tofu soup - yums!

Tasty Korean apps

Delish bbq short ribs

Mr. Pie's little babies miss him :(

Maddie is sleeping by his shirt...

Kobe is a little tired too...

And now Peanut is taking her turn on her Daddy's shirt!
Don't worry guys, he's coming home tomorrow!

Pablo, use your double ones!

On Saturday night, Peldia invited me over for some Affliction, pizza and a kick ass game of Chicken Legs. It was a lot of fun - their hospitality is wonderful as usual :) Peldia was feeling better, as she was still on bedrest. The only thing missing was my Mr. Pie :(
The Affliction fights were insane. One guy was taken out of the ring in a stretcher. Bad news for him but I think he will be ok. Now on to my main event of the night...Chicken Legs!
Here are my many, many dominos (you don't want this many!) Pablo is gangsta about his game This is why its called Chicken Legs
Oh yeah, I whooped some butt though - I won 4 rounds in a row!
Their cat Mia!

She rarely makes an appearance so it was a treat to see her.

Thanks Peldia for the fun!

Do you want a pickle?

Last Friday night, I had sushi and movie night with PhotoMom. It was great to see her as usual and we settled into our regular menu at Tommy's Sushi in Tustin.
Sake! - I got my sake mojo back :)The mouth watering poki bowl - fresh fish!Delicious sushi plate consisting of a
salmon skin hand roll, eel sushi, yellowtail sushi and tuna cut roll
Afterwards we headed off to watch Frost/Nixon. It's not generally my type of movie but it was very interesting. Also interesting? The huge jar of pickles at the movie theater. Very strange but oddly I had a craving for it. Alas, PhotoMom did not bite (ha!) and we were pickle-less. I think she was still musing at the fact that I brought the Snuggie into the theater with me :) But hey, I was warm as I learned more about Nixon :)
Oh and you know that FailBlog? I had one of my own. I took the large lid for my small yogurt! Total FAIL.

He tried to make a break for it...

Yesterday at lunch, I came home to Cookie Monster trying to run away: But I think he may have had some help from his four-legged friend.

It's going to take a long time...15-20 minutes

The work crew had a fabulous New Year's lunch yesterday. We went to Capital Seafood Express in the Diamond District. Behold, our feast:
String beans (yums), chow mein noodles (bland)
My fave - pork/shrimp shumai!
Shrimp hargow (with a personal appearance from good luck kitty)
Roasted duck (delish!)
The most important part of the duck? The sticky buns we waited for (15-20 minutes as the guy tried to disuade us - but really, you can't have duck without the buns).
The entire meal was only $34! I highly recommend the place - maybe next time we can stay at the restaurant if it's not too crowded :)

Peanut got her hairs cut

Before
After
She got 3 treats afterwards :)

Benadryl is the bees knees

Recap of the week so far...
Monday - nice MLK day off. MommaPie and I went to Little Saigon to take in the festivities of Tet week. It was so crowded! We couldn't even park where we wanted to go and traffic on the street was bumper to bumper. I picked up some nice smelling flowers for the house :)
Tuesday - Inauguration Day! It was also MommaInLawPie's surgery so my stomach was in knots all day long. Also, free makeup day. Here is what some of the line looked like. I got 2 free moisturizers. Mr. Pie stopped by the mall to witness the crazy and took us to dinner.
Wednesday - JB (my ex-boss from college) had passed away on Jan. 15 and his memorial service was on Wed. It was bittersweet for me - returning to the college campus, reliving the memories and finally saying goodbye to an old friend. I didn't keep in touch with him as I should have - the last email was from 2004. Lesson learned the hard way - don't let time pass you by. If you need to say hi to someone, don't wait.
The sweet part was looking at the places where I met Mr. Pie :)
The first time:
The second:
Thursday - Mr. Pie left at night to visit his Mom. It was sad. Even the dogs knew it.
Peanut jumped in the suitcase!
I made pot roast for dinner before he left. Yums with french bread (thanks SherBear for the recipe!)
Mr. Pie will be gone for 9 days! Boo. Sad. By the way, Benadryl is awesome if you have the sniffles but makes you drowsy :)

hOpe

The power of prayer is wonderful! MommaInLawPie has gotten out of her surgery and is now recovering. Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers - they meant so much to our family.
And in other important news today, there was history in the making. Our 44th President of the U.S. was inaugurated! I can't say that he will bring about every change he has promised to work on, but there is hope in the air and that's really all we can start with right?

Say a little prayer please...

Usually I have a witty title post but today, it's a little more serious. MommaInLawPie is having heart repair surgery this morning. Please keep her in your prayers as she is a very very special Mom to us. The doctors will be repairing a heart valve and that's about all the medical jargon I can explain! Here's a picture for visual aid (you know I must have pictures!)...
We love her so much and wish her the best. Mr. Pie will be flying out for her recovery on Thursday. We love you Mom!

Don't eat the bay leaf

Tonight Mr. Pie came back from his golf game and made cajun sausasge and shrimp jambalaya for me and Slim. It was magnificent! Who knew my Michigan boy could create a cajun dish?
The prep and cooking:
Red and green peppers charred on an open flame

Cajun style andouille sausage - delish!

All the goodies simmering in a pan... And then finally on my plate! Afterwards we broke out the Yahtzee (can you believe I've never played before?)

Peanut helped.

Slim won with a big straight at the end!

Can I wear my Snuggie in line?

The Pies are c-r-a-z-y. We woke up this morning at 7 am to go to the Circuit City liquidation sale. To buy what? Even we didn't know. Mr. Pie was cold and the Snuggie saved the day! However, after finding out that Circuit City wasn't open until 10 am (Mr. Pie luckily did not kill me for that), we headed over to IHOP for breakfast. We shared the all-you-can-eat-pancake meal and a bowl of fruit. I know, exciting right? This is what we look like very early in the morning. We killed more time at Target and then headed back to Circuit City where there was already a small crowd gathering. Mr. Pie had high hopes now for a flat screen tv. I was thinking more laptop. However, the sale blew big time. It was disappointing that only tvs and laptops were 10% off. What is that?! We left with nothing and headed to the mattress store to get our new bed! But first we stopped at the North Woods Inn where Mr. Pie has always been curious about since he passes it on the freeway a lot. The place has no windows - very strange. It's like a very dark Claim Jumper. The food was ok. I had the shrimp cocktail and Mr. Pie had the burger. Afterwards, we drove around in circles and circles, looking for the mattress store. It was totally worth it though. We were able to get a new floor model for $1k - the retail price is $2400! It's an Eastern King which is really a King. I just love that we have a brand new bed now - being delivered on Tuesday! Woohoo! Also, this might possibly be the most boring post ever. But I bet you can tell I really love my new camera :)
