Happy Birthday, Mr. Pie!

Mr. Pie's birthday was this past Saturday. We celebrated with a delicious dinner at one of our favorite places, Captain Jack's. We haven't been to this restaurant since before our wedding!
Here's the birthday guy! With their usual huge menu ... followed by their huge food!
Escargot to start - omg so good.
Mr. Pie got the crab legs - you must get these if you come here.
And I got an entire cow! Ok not really but this was the biggest cut of prime rib I've ever gotten.
We had a wonderful time. Happy Birthday to my favorite guy!!
I'll leave you with a pic of him when he was a little tot :)

It's because we didn't have a spatula

The other night, a few friends from work came over and we attempted to make the ever so popular macaron. I read about it on Bakerella's blog (and several others). Ting had a book and had attempted before. I even aged the egg whites for 24 hours to room temperature.
See? We are ready! We have crown and cokes! Essential for baking - duh!
Ting, happily whisking.
CShells is in charge of the meringue.
Mbeezy was the measuring star (and photographer - thanks for the pics)!
Team work!
Blue hands!
Break for pizza! (That's in the recipe somewhere)
Mmmm...they look good! They are suppose to have the "feet" at the bottom like that.
We felt golden.
Posing for pics! (That's in the recipe also)
I'm wearing MIL's apron!
The end result!
The real end result!
They were not good at all!
Mr. Pie said they were ok and that was a great try for the first time. He must really love me.
We had so much fun - thanks for coming over girls! If you attempt to make these, be sure to have all of the ingredients in the real recipe (taken from Bakerella above) and also mix in a lot of fun.
