Jazzercise Convention, Part 1
The Pies had a wonderful weekend in Palm Springs! We decided to take advantage of this package at the La Quinta Resort and invited the Peldia family along so that Pablo could golf with Mr. Pie while Peldia and I hung out little Peldia :)
First order of business? Check in and cocktail hour! The Pies had a bit of a snafu with the rooms (by the way, if you ever go to this resort, do not book a room in the 300s. Any other rooms are waaaaaaaaay better - trust us) but we were situated correctly the 3rd time and we were even given a better rate. I love me some Mr. Pie!
We met up with Peldia at the restaurant, Twenty6 for cocktail hour and it also happened to be where our dinner reservations are.
Yes, we have a baby. In a bar.
Dinner was AMAZING. I'm not kidding. We were a bit hesitant on how good the food would be at the resort, considering it was inclusive. We thought our choices would be limited. We were happily wrong - this is one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at!
We started with french onion soup and salad.
Bone in rib eye for me and Pablo
Filet mignon with blue cheese crumble for Mr. Pie
Peldia had roast chicken (which we forgot to take a picture of!)
Also included in dinner was dessert! We love dessert - nom nom nom!
Chocolate mousse for me
Mr. Pie had the fruit sorbet
Pablo had the chocolate brownie sundae
Peldia had the apple tart with vanilla bean ice cream - best dessert of the night! At one point, Mr. Pie wasn't giving it back to Peldia - haha.
Oh my gah - this dinner was the best way to start our vacation!
Even more interesting at the resort was the Jazzercise convention! Think lots of cougar type women in leotards. Hahaha
Tomorrow's post will include a food repeat performance and my babysitting adventure :) Stay tuned!

The tassle was worth the hassle!
We celebrated USCGirl getting her doctorate on Saturday. Her parents really went all out for her party. And I'm confused as to why I only took pics of the cake, taco man and fruit man but none of us or USCGirl. Hahaha. It was a lot of fun and we are so happy she is done with school!
Yummy cake
Taco Man! He was awesome. I already let Mr. Pie I wanted him for our next party. The Fruit Guy was equally awesome! Whatever kind of fruit you wanted, he would cut it up and put it in a bag for you, squeezed some lime in it and shook chili on it. Awesome. We took our big bag to go!

burp.
Sorry I was away so long! Here's a recap of our meals - hahaha. And of course, they are cooked with love from Mr. Pie.
Mmmmm...more stuffed chicken breasts
Beer can chicken!
Langostino pasta
Hold the phone. I think in the middle of all of this, I did cook one meal. It was eggplant parmesan with sauce that I made fresh!
[patting myself on the back]Ok, back to Mr. Pie's meals...
Pork Spare Ribs - my new favorite!
Mr. Pie went to his favorite butcher and ordered the pork ribs that had more meat on them. It was excellent. I loved every bite.Beef Ribs - nom nom nom...
See? You did miss us.

Scored!
A couple of months ago, I read on another blog that she was able to get free rooms at the Westin via this travel blog. I bookmarked it and roamed it from time to time to daydream vacations :) Well last week, I clicked on the blog and it let me know of a twitter contest the Westin was having! The first person to click on a link and reply would win a free night stay and dinner at their restaurant. I entered the contest and was bummed to find out nothing that day. However, the next morning when I logged on, I found out I won! And then the whole office found out since I was shouting it. And then Mr. Pie was amused because I think I interrupted him when he was in court to tell him. So anyway :) We won a free Saturday night stay at the LA Westin Bonaventure. It was awesome!
Our heavenly bed that they are always advertising. It was very soft!
Our view of LA - hahaha.
I was hoping for a car chase...
Fun hotel soaps and toiletries. Yes, I took it all home with me.
I lounged around and Mr. Pie was able to catch the rest of the Red Wings game on tv. They won! Woohoo! Then it was off to dinner.
Mmmmmm...martinis pre-dinner. Dirty Belvedere for me and Lychee for Mr. Pie. Both were equally delicious!
Also, the Chivas girl was there to promote the scotch brand and Mr. Pie scored a glass for free. It was way too strong for me.
Finally, our free dinner at LA Prime. We were given the pre-fix menu.
Bread and wine to start, but of course! The wine was also on special that night - I think it was $32 a bottle.
For the first couse, we enjoyed the brandywine tomato caprese salad and the seafood bisque. Yum yums!
Prime rib for Mr. Pie - so divine!
Filet mignon for me - delish!
For dessert, apple tarts for the both of us with a side of vanilla ice cream.
The bill was only for the wine! Woohoo!
Then it was downstairs to the revolving bar which we had heard so much about. The drinks were free also since our dinner was late in coming out! The Pies are lovin' life!
The only thing scary about the Westin Bonaventure is their elevator. It is very fast and all glass so you can see yourself going up and down at a very fast pace.
Here are more pics of the hotel - it's a little outdated and very '80s. But hey, it was free!
These are just some of the movies that have been filmed there.
We should have upgraded to the Rain Man suite!
We had so much fun at our little staycation :)
