Officially Mrs. Pie!

I am now officially Mrs. Pie, wife of Mr. Pie. Well, at the DMV that is :) We've been married almost a year and I changed it at the SS office but not at the DMV...until today! Yay! Official! We're like legal and stuff.

I am brave...

Today was the much anticipated start of this sale!!!

I must be crazy though because I went after work. Sale + all of the women in the county + hunger does not = to a great shopping experience. However, I am me after all and I do not fear these obstacles! I managed to pick up 2 pairs of fantabulous shoes:

I picked these up for $34 in the gold.

And these in a deep satin red for also $34!!

Mr. Pie and I ended up the day eating at one of the local steak restaurants. It was a great day and I hope to have some good news soon!

Co-Worker Shannigans, Part 2

Today we went to a Thai restaurant for lunch and Mazzy dared iTouch (more on his nickname in a later post) to take a spoonful of dried red pepper flakes. The ones with the seed.

Any normal person would have said no but iTouch does not shy away from a dare. Little B came up with the idea that we would have to call iTouch "Sir" for the rest of the day. I just looked on in horror and pleaded him to say no. But, alas, boys will be boys and I think iTouch is still crying, 2 hours later!

Perspective

Wow. 2 posts from me today! I wanted to write what's been on my mind and a couple of stories that I read today since it's still fresh in my mind. I consider myself to have a pretty darn good life. I have a caring and loving husband, a wonderful family and my health. I know we all go through life and fall into certain routines and we become this mass of individuals who are just joined at the hip in this rat race and before you know it, years have passed by. I am certainly guilty of it - I wake up, I get ready for work, I go to work, I work some more, come home, eat, watch tv, go to bed. This is what I do for most of the week. Along the way, I enjoy time with Mr. Pie, the dogs, my family, my friends, I make yummy food, I eat yummy food, and I try to enjoy myself. But most often, I take a lot of things for granted. I don't always step out of my comfort zone and I don't enjoy things or take more time on the journey that I should. So this morning, I came across this great article on CNN which is completely true: Blogging as therapy! http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/personal/05/07/blog.therapy/index.html But then it lead me to this blog about a woman who is now raising her small twins after the death of her husband to pancreatic cancer: http://snickollet.blogspot.com/ And then I found this blog from a man whose wife died 27 hours after giving birth to their daughter: http://www.mattlogelin.com/ I'm left with much sadness after hearing their stories. But what I did notice is that they did not stop blogging after probably what is the most horrific thing that could ever happen to them. They are still living their lives to the fullest. This gives me the perspective that ok, so what if my tv show didn't record or that my hair looks like crappola today. Even the house hunting doesn't compare. I need to stop worrying about the smaller things in life and start enjoying it. If I could have a tenth of the courage that they have, I can still continue to face anything - even the smallest things.

I'm a genius

And I also reserve the right to use this blog title again.

A few weeks ago, ground turkey went on sale and I froze it to use at a later date. I ended up thawing it yesterday morning to make some yummy turkey, spinach (Costco bag, still going strong) and mushroom lasagna. The recipe called for it to be manicotti but I didn't have any - just those wonderful no-boil lasagna sheets. After work, I made a Mr. Pie move and went straight into the kitchen. After cooking the ground turkey in a frying pan, I set the oven to 375. I mixed 1 lb of ground turkey with 2 cups of spinach, 1 lb of mushrooms, 1/4 cup of grated parm, chopped onions and garlic, eggs and salt and pepper. I poured a cup of spaghetti sauce into my lasagna pan, spread a layer of the noodles and then the turkey mix and repeated. I topped it off with more sauce and a thin layer of mozarella cheese. I covered it with foil and baked for 1 hour!

The result!

Mr. Pie looooved it and gave it the ok sign over his empty plate.

He wasn't completely exempt from the kitchen though,
I put out the ingredients for the best salad ever :)

However, the dogs were unimpressed:

You'll never have to do laundry again

This past Saturday, I attended the much anticipated Baby K's shower and everything was absolutely heavenly pink (my favorite color!).

Here is a pic of Baby K:

The kid definitely made out big time! She got loads and loads of presents - especially clothes! Momma Chip will not have to do laundry again.

Here's the baby Momma and Daddy :)

Aren't they so cute? We just love them to pieces! We cannot wait to meet their new little baby in July.

Here's their other kid:

Chip!

It was nice to relax and have fun with the Chips after the shower (the guys went and had their own fun). We reconnected with old friends and it was a great weekend!!

BEST Survivor Episode EVER

I won't spoil it for any readers who haven't watched it yet but this goes down in history as my favorite episode EVER. It had EVERYTHING. It could have ended tonight as the finale and I would have been so happy!

Sooo exciting even the dog couldn't watch :)

My stomach married well.

Mr. Pie made ribs last night! Ladies, there is a secret to your husband cooking - just say the word "bbq." On Sunday, I discovered that beef ribs were on sale at the market so I bought some, marinated it in Lawry's seasonings and threw it in a bag in the fridge.

Then I waited.

Mr. Pie discovered it on Monday:
Mr. Pie: What's in the bag?
Me: Oh, just some ribs I picked up at the store. [nonchalantly]
Mr. Pie: You know what would go really good in the marinade? Vinegar and liquid smoke and blah blah blah (I lost track of what he said, just envisioning me licking a rib bone)
Me: Oh, really? Hmmm...I wonder what that would taste like.

SCORE!

So last night, after work, Mr. Pie fired up the grill and voila! Beef ribs for dinner and oh, just about the BEST salad EVER. He took spinach (this is still our 5 lb bag from Costco), mozarella ball - cut up, grape tomatoes and some basil leaves. Omg - it was little bites of heaven in my mouth. Just so you think I don't contribute, I made the tasty mashed potatoes. I opened that bag right up and mixed it with boiling water. I was exhausted :)

I think my job will now to be to scour the market and leave ingredients around :)
