It takes more muscles to frown than smile

Last Saturday, we had our dear friends over for dinner, Jimmissa! And they brought their little one, The Bean, who is truly as cute as ever.
Check out the cool parmesan crusted caprese bites Mr. Pie whipped up for us as an appetizer! They were delish!!! I want more please.
Mr. Pie prepared a tasty smoked pork tenderloin WRAPPED IN BACON which we devoured in 10 minutes, compared to him smoking it in the smoker for 2+ hours during day.
I want more please.
He also served it alongside his blue cheese and glazed walnut salad with dried cranberries and a vinagrette dressing and homemade mac & cheese! Nom nom nom. I want more please.
I went with an eggplant parmesan for me and 'Missa.
Our lovely dinner guests sharing their yummy St. Supery wine that they brought! (The Bean did not have any wine with her dinner, thank you) She did, however, enjoy tasty apples and pear!I want her baby feet! Look at how cute! The birthday dude.
What was in the box?
Missa's cracked cookies! I felt like the Cookie Monster going after them. They are like bites of heaven. The BEST cookies you'll ever eat.
And here we are with our babies :)
Thanks for coming over Jimmissa and The Bean! We love you guys!

Happy Birthday, Mr. Pie!

Mr. Pie's birthday was this past Saturday. We celebrated with a delicious dinner at one of our favorite places, Captain Jack's. We haven't been to this restaurant since before our wedding!
Here's the birthday guy! With their usual huge menu ... followed by their huge food!
Escargot to start - omg so good.
Mr. Pie got the crab legs - you must get these if you come here.
And I got an entire cow! Ok not really but this was the biggest cut of prime rib I've ever gotten.
We had a wonderful time. Happy Birthday to my favorite guy!!
I'll leave you with a pic of him when he was a little tot :)

It's because we didn't have a spatula

The other night, a few friends from work came over and we attempted to make the ever so popular macaron. I read about it on Bakerella's blog (and several others). Ting had a book and had attempted before. I even aged the egg whites for 24 hours to room temperature.
See? We are ready! We have crown and cokes! Essential for baking - duh!
Ting, happily whisking.
CShells is in charge of the meringue.
Mbeezy was the measuring star (and photographer - thanks for the pics)!
Team work!
Blue hands!
Break for pizza! (That's in the recipe somewhere)
Mmmm...they look good! They are suppose to have the "feet" at the bottom like that.
We felt golden.
Posing for pics! (That's in the recipe also)
I'm wearing MIL's apron!
The end result!
The real end result!
They were not good at all!
Mr. Pie said they were ok and that was a great try for the first time. He must really love me.
We had so much fun - thanks for coming over girls! If you attempt to make these, be sure to have all of the ingredients in the real recipe (taken from Bakerella above) and also mix in a lot of fun.

Purple!

That's BabyChip's favorite color and I cannot believe how much she's grown that she's now saying that! The Chips came down to see us on Saturday.
Look how cute BabyChip has grown :)
Here she is, being silly :)
"Do I have something on my face?"
With Mr. Pie!
Cutest Family - the Chips!
Hopefully next time we see you will be sooner (as evident by my birthday and Christmas presents we were opening in February!). Also, we can't wait to see a picture of BabyChip in her Red Wings snowsuit!
